New wheels

Made a new wheel from parts i have collected over the years.
Used a fx hub, new spokes and an barely used 21" rim.
After several tries I finally managed to get the lacing as it should be an tensioned the spokes.
Used my old Avon tire for mock-up.
Next up: space the front wheel, install the disc brake and move on to the next part.

Also made some progress with my seat pan. Detriment the final look and wille now finish it so it can be upholstered.

Last but not least. I've almost finished the hardtail struts. They only need some final welding and a nice color.

Some thoughts

I finally got my frame back from the welder so i can start building my dream chopper.
I'm also becoming a master in using paint (LOL) to vizualize my thoughts.

This is how she is probably going to look like when i'm finished. The color will be a dark metalflake brown ( Rootbeer ) with AMF style yellow/orange striping. Seeing her like this i'm thinking to change the rear wheel to a 18 inch en adding a king queen seat instead af the current 16 inch en solo/p-pad setup.

First mock-up after welding. Everything fits like it did and the frame seems to be as straight as an Arrow.

In the mean time i'm also becoming a true bondo guru in the proces of finishing the gastank for the other bike.

Bigtwin Bikeshow

Last weekend there was the annual Bigtwin Bikeshow in Rosmalen ( the Netherlands ). The last two years i've been a jury member so i never had the change to take a look at the rest of the show.
This year i was just a visitor so i took my time to take a good look at al the bikes and parts.
Saw some nice bikes and my mind is filled with inspiration.

Spinger inspiration.

Best looking bike at the show.

Hate the bike, love the paint.

Projects project projects

I'm going to have a very busy winter. Made some plans to change my '80 Ironhead.
Going to change the gas tank, make a new seat, loose the front fender, rewire the bike/gastank, clean up the handle bar en to finish it off i'm going to repaint al the tins in a mild 60's style and coat the handle bar en sissybar.

Further more i'm going to finish the hardtail frame so i can start building on my hardtail project.

And last but not least i've to help my buddy to get his '03 Fatboy back on the road.

More to come?

Marker, paper, scissors

Fooling around with some cardboard to make a nice looking oil tank. Just some little fine tuning and I can start with some sheetmetal.

A sissybar for Lucy

Made me a nice little sissybar for Lucy. Nothing fancy, just something to hold my camping gear, raincoat and tools.
Since it's a swingarm frame and i dont like the stock sissybars i had to come up with an alternative.
I made some bungs to replace the bolts that hold the fender and made some bends in 12mm steel to make a nice little sissybar.
I think the bungs alone are strong enough to hold all my gear, but maybe i have to put in some kind of reinfocement. I little roadtest will answer that.
In the meantime i can decide what finish i will put on the sissybar, Chrome, spraypaint, powdercoat.
